Only time worth buying this game.LISTEN EVERYONE-MATTY IS THE REAL DEAL AND CANNOT BE BEAT! Here's why:ġ. Grab it on a sale in the Need for Speed collection. These times are seemingly random and makes the main purpose of the game a challenge to not rage.Īll in all, okay game, decent concepts, poor execution. Crashing in the game also puts a damper on racing as it can take anywhere from 5 seconds to 15 to reset the racer back onto the course. The racers in the city were an enticing concept but in this game just provides more obstacles for the player to avoid. Rubberbanding on the named racers (such as Amy) makes races unenjoyable as you are forced to launch yourself at top speed without flying completely off the road or smashing into one of the many random drivers roaming around the city. The real lackluster feature of this game is sadly the racing. The fine details for this game seem to be here which mask the adequate broad strokes of the gameplay, making the game tolerable and enjoyable to others. Menus are easy to navigate though most people will be spending their time in All-Drive and never look back. The display gives the sleek, night-life design that the game itself seems to be going for. The UI and the HUD for this game has gotten a major improvement for the last one. This would be fine if the cutscenes were actually good but most actors seem to be spewing out lines while taking a glance at the camera on every last word as a lazy attempt to keep the player "engaged" in the conversations happening. Some cutscenes are skippable while players are stuck watching random scenes that they care nothing for (personally I have not been into the story of most NFS games as it seems to be what is second to actual gameplay). Other than this the game is just like the others except for the added live-action cutscenes that can be taken or left without any harm to the game. Spotty connection leaves racers getting stuck and not being able to drive for milliseconds up to 10 seconds which can completely destroy lap times and does not sell the idea that "the benefits are nice" for requiring such restriction. The amount of maintenance time does not seem to be reflected in the game itself as poor internet connection is the main culprit for a bad time. The servers go down multiple times a day for maintenance which can leave players mildly annoyed that they have to stop playing shortly after warming up or infuriated that the race they were trying for ages was cut short because of poor time management. The disadvantages of the "online-only" model that plagued the gaming world years back is is on full display. A fast-paced entry into the iconic racing series that more than likely was impressive in 2015 but in 2022 leaves much room for disappointment.
